“Music is an agreeable harmony for the honour of God and the permissible delights of the soul." The IHMC Choir sings for 10:30 AM Mass every week without a break. The choir comprises of about 25 heterogeneous people ranging from teenager to senior citizen, coming from all walks of life, hailing from different geographical locations and cultural backgrounds, singing in parts with various voices to create harmony. This harmony is extended in their lives and among themselves. Hymns are selected based on the liturgy and are projected onto the larger screen of the Church. The Choir Mistress prepares the PPT very meticulously  and shares with all the members.

In addition from singing for the regular Sunday 10:30 AM Mass, they also render their voices for various occasions like First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Weddings, Church Feasts, Christmas, Easter, etc. We have a few very good singers who sing solos on various occasions and this adds flavour to our choir.

Members come together in different choir members' houses for practice and fellowship meals and thereby strengthen their bonding and oneness. Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated among the members which create a sense of belongingness. A few families of the choir have all the members involved in the choir either in singing, or playing the instruments like keyboard, guitar, etc. 

Currently, we have 3 guitarists and 3 members playing the keyboard and they take turns. It is evident that when people from various backgrounds come together, there are differences and over the years our choir has learnt to accept one another and celebrate these differences. In spite of all odds, busy work and family lives, fulfilling various roles in life, yet the choir is committed towards the Church and is an integral part of our parish. Many people flock to our parish because of our melodious singing.

Our choir's foundation is built upon a collection of guidelines which instills a sense of responsibility and timeliness upon each and every member, especially the youngsters. Let us build the leaders of the future out of our youngsters and look for the next generation to take up the mantle. Yes, it is difficult in the midst of our busy schedules. Yes, it needs that extra little push. However, the seeds that we sow will bear fruit for their entire lifetime. We welcome Church members who love to sing to join us and add notes to our Sunday music. Choir alone is not a passion, but  it is a commitment.

Under the guidance of  Roushnee Sur, the Choir Mistress of the parish -English section - beauty of the Mass is increased tremendously.
