On March 12, 2023, we celebrated women's day in our parish.
Introduction, prayers, homily and intentions had a special focus on women, intending to express the gratitude for the role they play in general and specially in the Parish. While Fr. Mohan, SJ was the main celebrant for Kannada mass. The Parish Priest was the main celebrant for English Mass.
Soon after the Mass a short felicitation programme was held. Five women from different age groups and different walks of life were chosen to represent the women folk of our Parish Community. They were honoured with a shawl and flowers each.
To make this celebration meaningful two contests were held for women exclusively.
One was an online quiz based on "women in Scripture, Church, and Traditions"
The second was a short video contest titled "The role of women in the Church in 21st Century".
A large number of women participated in the contests and the winners of the contests were awarded during the felicitation programme.
Mrs. Ignasi Mary and Mrs. Premi D'mello proposed vote of thanks during English eucharistic celebration and Kannada Eucharistic celebration respectively. While thanking the Parish for acknowledging and felicitating women for the services rendered by women in the church and families, they appealed all to stand for the rights of women and support gender equality right from home to every other place.
